Ashtray
This is the original ashtray from my 54.
I purchased some reproduction ashtrays, and the lid handle is different. |
Brake switch
This is an original brake switch for a 1954. Connects to the brake pedal mechanism. |

Casco Cigarette Lighter - 6V
The top left picture is a 53-55 NOS lighter assembly with original red tag. The Note lighter housing has ground black wire held to housing by a round head screw - this was for 53 to 54 ONLY.
The top right picture shows the correct "U" tab for all 53 to 55 lighter elements. The bottom left picture shows the correct coil winding. The element on the left is the 6 Volt element. The element on the right (showing a more dense winding) is the 12 Volt element. The bottom right picture shows the correct "U" tabs for the 6 volt and 55 corvette 12 volt elements. The smooth element on the far right (lacking the "U" tabs) is for 56 and later Corvettes. |
Original - Door knob
Tung-Sol Emergency Brake Flasher - 632
This is a later production, but I believe has the same appearance as the original.
Emergency Brake Jewel
The picture to the left shows the Emergency Brake Jewel, which is correct for 53 and 55's.
The picture in the middle shows the correct emergency brake jewel setup for 1953 and 1954 - note the black wires and the screw in type connection for the fuse panel. The correct 53-54 setup is not being reproduced at this time. The picture to the right shows the correct setup for 55's. Note the beige wires and the different connectors. |
54 and 55Gas Pedals
The real things. 54 on top and 55 on the bottom. Reproduction pedals had a different base hinge, and lack the part number. The part number is on top for the 54 and on the side for the 55.

Original - Heater Diverter
Heater Switch
Many repro heater switches sold are missing the white coil-resistor and therefore if you pull it ALL the way out will turn the heater motor on that's how to know it's a repro with out looking under the dash area. |
Horn Emblem
Original on the left, reproduction on the right. The amount of black in the lack and white flag is the give-away. The original has much more black in the checkered flag than the reproduction. You can spot an original hood emblem the same way. An original hood emblem has much more back in the checkered flag as well (compared to a reproduction hood emblem).

Radio Original
Radio on the left is an original 1953 - Early 1954 radio. Radio on the right is an original late 54 6 volt radio - the 55 radio looks exactly the same as the late 54, but is 12 volts.
The late 54 - 55 radios had CONELRAD tuning marker dots at 640 and 1240KC. Those dots are clearly visible in the picture on the right. Those dots were placed there to help people tune their radios to emergency stations in case of a national attack. |
Radio Speaker - Original
Radio power pack for 53 to 55 looks the same in design. Only difference is one is 6 volt and 55 is 12 volt. OZ4 is 6 or 12 volt as is the Vibrator. ( A 53 to 54 6 volt power pack will not except a 55 12 volt vibrator - so a 12 volt vibrator cannot be used in the 6 volt power pack and vice-versa.) . |
Spare Tire Cover - Original
Clicking on the thumbnail above brings up a 2mb picture of the spare tire cover. I kept the file large so you can see all of the detail on this board. Very original board. Boards used from 53-55 do not have the cut-outs found on later C1 boards for the trunk latch.
Note the "G." stamp on the retainer cup. And note the printing of the jack instructions. Reproduction jack instructions use a different font and size font. Original instructions were glued with little concern of how much glue was used - which you can see from the above pic. Reproduction jack instructions are stickers - you peel the back off and it sticks to the board. For the true INCURS look - you should show a glue outline as above. |
