In 1953, according to
records, the Chevrolet division of General Motors manufactured 315
Chevrolet Corvette's. In 1954, according to records, Chevrolet
manufactured 3,640 Corvette's. This Corvette available for bid is the 58th
Corvette off the assembly line in 1954, which actually makes it the
373rd Corvette manufactured, the VIN tag reads E54S00158. The previous
owner who bought the car in the 1960's, said the VIN tag matches the
frame number. The motor with the sidedraft carbs do not match
the VIN and the frame numbers. The powerglide auto transmission
has been rebuilt, and the side curtains in the pouch are in unusually
good condition.
This car comes with a new red-white interior kit and a tan soft top
to go over existing top bows. A couple of other highlights include: 4
new hubcaps with excellent flippers, boxes, new front grille, grille
oval and teeth bar rechromed, rear horizontal bar bumper
rechromed, radio and speakers, very good used radiator and radiator
support, 2 seat frames, tach drive distributor. All fiberglass
body on rolling chassis needs complete restoration. I think this car
was raced at one time, as the floor has been cut back some and the hood
scoop is non original. The body has been lifted with spacer
blocks in the front which are removable, which I am sure were put
there for weight transfer.
This car is 95% complete to my knowledge, and if you are looking for
an almost complete 1954 low production numbered Corvette to restore,
this is it, for short money.
